when i listen to it now it sounds childish, as does most of the music i grew up on. very little music that you love when you’re a confused teen holds up as an adult after you have discovered more about the world and spent many years soul-searching. but that’s why we like the music, because it brings us back to a simpler time. when idealism was king and we didn’t worry about things like groceries, rent, careers, promotions, STD screenings, getting the brakes fixed or april 15th. we think of nights spent driving around with friends with the windows down collectively singing out into the darkness and feeling every word. because only those who have lived through it and made it out alive can truly look back and find the words we cannot because when we are young we are surround by too much of life’s noise.
